Jeff Crawford - Director of Risk Management Services

Jeff Crawford graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School, Portland, Oregon (JD 1992), and was admitted to the Oregon State Bar (1992) and the Washington State Bar (1993).  He received a BA in history from Reed College in Portland in 1987. He attended the University of Kent in Canterbury, England and graduate school at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Prior to law school, Mr. Crawford worked in the area of law office management for firms in Portland and Seattle. As a law student, he clerked for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Portland and edited the law journal, International Legal PerspectivesBefore joining the Professional Liability Fund, Mr. Crawford had a general practice in Stevenson, Washington.

During his career, Mr. Crawford has written, taught, and consulted widely on the subjects of legal malpractice, underwriting, ethics, practice management, and technology.  He co-authored the PLF publication, A Guide to Setting Up and Running Your Law Office (1994).   He served on the Multnomah Bar Association's Board of Directors and was the Chair of Multnomah Bar’s Group Insurance Committee for many years (the primary medical insurance purchasing pool for Oregon attorneys).

Mr. Crawford joined the PLF as a practice management advisor in 1994. From 1996 to 2020, he worked as Director of Administration and Underwriting for the PLF, managing the day-to-day operations and overseeing the PLF's Excess Program. He now serves as the Director of Risk Management Services for the PLF.
