Who We Help

We provide CONFIDENTIAL and free counseling assistance to lawyers, judges, law students, their family members, and members of the legal community.

Lawyers & Judges

We help with your concerns about your health and well-being, or the well-being of someone you care about.  We offer short-term individual counseling, referral to other resources when appropriate, support groups, workshops, CLEs, and educational programs. We offer assistance with problem substance use; career satisfaction; depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions; well-being; stress management; relationships; building resiliency; and other life challenges. If you feel overwhelmed by the long hours, constant stress, exposure to difficult situations, and high demands of the profession, you are not alone. We can help.

Law Students

Heavy workloads, grades, and competition contribute to law student stress.  Being intentional about your self-care is key. When you feel overwhelmed, it is not unusual to turn to unhealthy coping strategies such as substance misuse; procrastination; gambling; or problematic use of food, the Internet, or sex to deal with feelings of stress.  Getting help early to work through these issues will help you be healthier and more effective in law school and throughout your legal career. OAAP attorney counselors can help you develop strategies to navigate the stress of law school or, if needed, refer you to other health professionals to make sure you get the help you need.
